Drug tip-off leads to raid on Edmond’s house, police find homemade bomb

Edmond residents were left unsettled after their neighbor was arrested on suspicion of possessing an explosive device.

On Wednesday, police went to Nick Krueger’s home on Whispering Creek Drive and served a search warrant. According to an affidavit, they discovered a homemade bomb.

Krueger is no longer in prison and behind the camera, he told News 9, it’s blown out of proportion. And while he refused to explain why police searched his home, Krueger claimed the bomb was something a child could make. He claimed to be a good person who had no evil intentions.

Krueger sat down with News 9 in July. “I just want people to know that spiders are not out to kill you,” Nick Krueger said.

At this time, Krueger shared his collection of poisonous spiders, many of which he was tasked with removing from homes in the subway. “Most people hear you do that and say what? Why?” said Krueger.

According to Krueger’s neighbors, the police presence along their street Wednesday was more concerning than the spiders. “There were police cars everywhere in front of my house,” said neighbor Linda Soulek. Neighbor Linda Soulek says officers showed up at her door. “He told me that the bomb squad was parked next to my house and that they were dumping the equipment in my yard and don’t worry, everything was fine,” Soulek said.

At Krueger’s home, police found an “improvised explosive device” in a safe in the master bedroom, according to a court affidavit.

Another neighbor recorded a video of a bomb robot entering and leaving the house. Another image shows the robot carrying an orange bucket. “What’s up?” Soulek said. The affidavit says Krueger admitted to building the device “from leftover fireworks” and was arrested.

In court documents, police also say they found a container labeled “ricin” that they believe contained “castor beans.”

Due to their ability to be used as a biological weapon, it is illegal to plant or even produce castor beans in Oklahoma.

However, Krueger told News 9 that he purchased the plants from a metropolitan nursery and is using them for educational purposes.

Neighbors also said police removed drugs from the home.

Police said they contacted the home to investigate a tip about illegal narcotics.
