Suspects Travor Nurse, 40, and Diamond Minter, 34, were caught after two teenagers, 12 and 13, handed themselves in to police over the weekend.

Two public housing workers have been arrested in connection with an attack on former New York Gov. David Paterson and his stepson Anthony Chester Sliwa. These were the latest suspects after two teenagers, 12 and 13, handed themselves in to police following the Upper East Side brawl over the weekend.

Suspects Travor Nurse, 40, and Diamond Minter, 34, work for the New York City Housing Authority. Nurse allegedly beat Paterson. The two have now been arrested in connection with the Oct. 4 attack on the couple on Second Avenue near East 96th Street.

Both were charged with second-degree gang assault, the New York Post reported. Additionally, the nurse faces an additional criminal charge of assault causing injury to a victim 65 years of age or older. Both charges are felonies.

Previous charges

Charges were also filed against the two boys who had previously surrendered. The 12-year-old faces second-degree gang rape and the 13-year-old was charged with third-degree gang rape. A third teenager, 14, was not charged because he was not an aggressor, according to police.

“Governor Paterson and his family are pleased that the suspects have turned themselves in,” a Paterson representative said after the arrests at the fiesta. “We hope that the young people involved learn something from this unfortunate encounter.”

The attack occurred when Paterson and Sliwa saw the suspects climbing a fire escape and confronted them. Following the attack, Paterson suffered a head injury and Sliwa suffered a facial wound. They were both taken to NY-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center “as a precaution,” Paterson spokesman Sean Darcy said.

Paterson previously revealed that neither he nor Sliwa knew the suspects. He also said he did not believe the attack had any connection to his past in politics.

Paterson praised Sliwa for protecting him during the attack. “When they insulted him and then started fighting him, he didn’t back down. And I think that took a lot of courage, a lot of bravery,” he said.
