‘Dedicated and dedicated to his job’ Tributes have been paid to the man who died in a tragic industrial accident in Christchurch

Family, friends and colleagues have paid tribute to Brian Whiteman, who tragically died in an industrial accident in Harewood, Christchurch, on Friday.

Brian, who had been in his job for over a decade, was changing a crane tire – a task he performed regularly – when it exploded, killing him instantly.

The accident was reported to the emergency services around 9:15 a.m., said a police spokesman.

In a heartbreaking page, his father and aunt said: “Brian was a young man who was dedicated and dedicated to his job.

“Day after day he would talk about his work to anyone who would listen, the passion in his voice was admirable.

“He was a beloved father, son, brother, uncle, cousin and co-worker. He left us to do what is called life without him and came to his mother in heaven, who also recently sprouted wings.

“Unfortunately the family is unable to cover the costs of his funeral. Any donation to ensure that Brian is released from this earth in an environment full of love would be forever grateful. We really want to give him the send-off he deserves, surrounded by his friends and family.”
