Police are investigating the shooting incident outside the home in Providence

PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island (WLNE) – Police are investigating after shots were fired outside a home on Metcalf Street in Providence on Monday.

Providence police said a gunshot victim arrived at a local hospital shortly after receiving a report of shots fired.

Police told ABC 6 News it was unclear whether the victim’s injuries were related to the shots fired on Metcalf Street.

There is currently no information on a suspect.

Police believe this was a targeted incident and witnesses have been detained for questioning.

ABC 6 News staff at the scene reported seeing police with long guns and evidence markers, as well as several patrol cars blocking the street.

A neighbor told ABC 6 he heard arguing and then four loud bangs.

#Update: Police say they responded to a shots fired call on Metcalf Street.

Officials say a victim showed up at a nearby hospital shortly after with a gunshot wound.
