Home security company ADT Inc. is reporting unauthorized activity on its network

(Reuters) – Home security company ADT Inc said on Monday an unauthorized actor illegally accessed its network using credentials obtained from a third business partner.

Shares of the company fell 1.8% in after-hours trading.

Monday’s incident came just months after the company reported a separate cybersecurity breach in which the unauthorized actors accessed customers’ order data and “limited” customer information from ADT, including email addresses, phone numbers and mailing addresses had.

The company has taken steps to prevent unauthorized access and has launched an investigation into the incident, which it says is still in its early stages and ongoing.

ADT said in a regulatory filing that the unauthorized actor stole certain encrypted internal data related to employee user accounts. However, the company does not believe any customers’ personal information or security systems were compromised, the company added.

ADT said it is working closely with federal law enforcement and outside cybersecurity experts to help respond to the incident.

The company also took countermeasures to protect its IT resources and operations, which resulted in some disruptions to ADT’s information systems, the company said in the filing.
