The Guardians placed the reserve player on the injured list ahead of ALDS Game 2

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Tyler Freeman’s postseason is over almost as quickly as it began.

The Guardians placed Freeman on the injured list with an oblique strain and activated switch-hitting infielder/outfielder Angel Martinez before the first pitch on Monday in Game 2 of the American League Division Series against the Tigers.

Freeman was injured Sunday during a simulated game as Cleveland practiced on an off day in the series. Manager Stephen Vogt said Freeman felt something in his oblique muscle during batting practice on a machine Sunday. When he stepped in for a live punch against Ben Lively in a simulation game later that day, he felt unwell after a punch.
