Motorcyclist fights for his life after crash on Interstate 10

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – A motorcyclist was fighting for his life after a crash on eastbound Interstate 10 near Marana on Monday, Oct. 7.

Arizona DPS confirmed the accident occurred near milepost 232, east of Pinal Air Park Road.

According to DPS, a tractor-trailer was traveling west on I-10 when a tire blew out and the vehicle crossed the median. The truck crashed into the cable barrier and threw pieces of a guardrail onto the eastbound lanes.

According to DPS, the motorcyclist fell while trying to avoid the debris.

According to DPS, the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet and protective gear but was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The Arizona DOT said eastbound lanes are closed in the area, which is about 12 miles northeast of Tucson.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area if possible.
