Did Iran conduct a nuclear test on Saturday? “Measured” earthquake in the region suggests…

The intensity was 4.5 on the Richter scale.

New Delhi: On the night of Saturday, October 5, a medium-intensity earthquake occurred in Iran and Israel. Curiously, both countries experienced the earthquake at slightly different times. In such a situation, there is speculation as to whether Iran has carried out its nuclear test.

The earthquake occurred in the city of Aradan in Iran’s Semnan province. Its intensity was 4.5 on the Richter scale.

The earthquake occurred at around 10:45 p.m. local time and its epicenter was at a depth of just 10 kilometers above the ground. The tremors were felt in Tehran, which is 110 kilometers (70 miles) from the earthquake’s epicenter, the US Geological Survey reported.

Shortly after Iran, an earthquake was reported in Israel

A few minutes later, an earthquake was reported in Israel. According to the European Mediterranean Seismic Center (EMSC) report, this earthquake occurred around 12 p.m., but its intensity remained very low.

Given the intense conflict between Iran and Israel, people on social media have started linking the earthquakes in these two countries to Iran’s nuclear tests. Many reports speculated that it was not an earthquake, but that Iran was conducting underground nuclear tests, which caused shock in both countries.

Nuclear test or earthquake?

A report claimed that the Iran earthquake occurred very close to the nuclear power plant, so it could not be said whether the shock was due to an earthquake or a nuclear test.

Another report claimed that the Iran earthquake could have been an underground nuclear test as its center was at a depth of just 10 km above the Earth. In such a situation, speculations about Iran’s nuclear test have increased.

Hostilities between Iran and Israel

In fact, the earthquakes in Iran and Israel occurred amid simmering tensions between the two Middle Eastern countries. Iran rained about 400 rockets on Israel on October 1 following the alleged killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh.

Israel has announced strong retaliation following the Iranian attack.
