Hiawatha man charged with sexual abuse of a child

A Hiawatha man was arrested Sunday on charges that he sexually abused a 9-year-old child in his Hiawatha home.

Arnoldo Martinez, 38, is charged with second-degree sexual abuse. He made his first court appearance Monday and is being held on a $25,000 cash bond.

According to a criminal complaint, the abuse occurred Sunday morning. The child reported the abuse to a parent and later to a Hiawatha police officer.

A no contact order was issued on behalf of the child.
