Shooting at party in Lee County leaves one dead and one injured

A shooting at a party in Lee County left one man dead and another seriously injured.

Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones said the shooting happened just before 9:30 p.m. Saturday in the 3000 block of Lee County Road 11 South in Beauregard.

Jones says 34-year-old Darrian Finley of Opelika was pronounced dead at the scene. Another unidentified victim had to be flown to Piedmont Hospital in Columbus, Georgia, for treatment of a gunshot wound.

Jones says it appears there was an argument that led to the shooting. It is believed that the people involved know each other. A gun believed to have been involved was recovered at the scene, Jones said.

Witnesses are now being questioned. Nobody was arrested.

Finley’s body was taken to the Department of Forensic Sciences in Montgomery for further examination.
