Paterson, 70, and his 20-year-old stepson Anthony Sliwa were attacked while walking on Manhattan’s Upper East Side around 8:30 p.m. Friday. She was treated for minor injuries, police said.

The 40-year-old man arrested Monday was charged with gang assault and assault, a police spokesman said, while the 34-year-old woman was charged with gang assault. It was not clear whether they had lawyers who could speak on their behalf.

The NY Post identified the suspects as Nurse Travor, 40, who is accused of beating Paterson, and Diamond Minter, 34 – both of whom work for the New York City Housing Authority. NYCHA has not yet released a statement regarding the employees involved.

Their arrests came after two boys, aged 12 and 13, were arrested on gang charges on Saturday.

Describing the attack at a news conference Saturday afternoon, Paterson said he and Sliwa fought off a group of people after Sliwa argued with some of the attackers earlier in the evening.

“I got hit in the face and shoulder a few times,” Paterson said, according to the Daily News.

Paterson said he suffered bruising and pain in his head. Sliwa, also battered and injured, received a cut lip that required five stitches, Paterson said.

Paterson, a Democrat, served as governor from 2008 to 2010, taking office after Gov. Eliot Spitzer resigned amid a sex worker scandal.

Paterson was New York’s first and only black governor.

It was unclear how many other suspects were being sought Monday.
