The Holt County Sheriff responded to the two-vehicle accident Monday

The Holt County Sheriff’s Department responded to a two-vehicle crash on the eastern edge of O’Neill at 494 Road and Highway 20 at 7:56 a.m. Monday, October 7, 2024.

A 2020 Freightliner MAC Tool truck experienced brake failure while traveling southbound on 494 Road. The truck crossed Highway 20 and was struck broadside by a 2003 Cadillac Escalade traveling westbound on Highway 20. After the impact, the truck rolled onto its side and slid into the south ditch.

Both vehicles were totaled. The driver of the truck was taken to West Holt Hospital, as were the driver and passenger (2-year-old son) of the Escalade. All injuries were minor.
