Stabbing and fire at same South Jersey home under investigation

BRIDGETON, NJ – A stabbing and fire occurred at the same Cumberland County home that sent two people to the hospital Saturday, authorities said.

Bridgeton police are investigating how the series of incidents unfolded. There were no arrests as of Monday afternoon.

A man was stabbed at a home in the 100 block of Oak Street, police said. Officers responded to the hospital Saturday afternoon, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

As police investigated the stabbing, the Bridgeton Fire Department was soon dispatched to the same home where heavy smoke was billowing.

A woman who lived at the home suffered smoke inhalation and was airlifted to Temple University Hospital. Three of her children were also present but were not injured, police said.

Both injured victims were released from the hospital.
