A defendant accepted a plea deal Oct. 4 before D.C. Superior Court Judge Heidi Pasichow.

William Brock, 33, was originally charged with assault with a dangerous weapon for the March 30 stabbing of an inmate at the D.C. Jail in the 1900 block of D Street SE.

During the hearing, Terrence Austin, Brock’s attorney, told the court that Brock would plead guilty to simple assault if prosecutors did not file charges in return.

Brock also pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of a contraband item – for possessing a sharp metal object in the D.C. Jail.

The parties will meet again on November 12th for sentencing.
