RACINE, WI – A 44-year-old Caledonia man faces a total of 160 years in prison after being charged with one count of repeated sexual assault of a child and four counts of possession of child pornography.

The sexual assault charge against Patrick Hagen carries a maximum sentence of 60 years in prison. Each count of child pornography carries a sentence of 25 years in prison and a $100,000 fine.

Hagen remains in custody at the Racine County Jail on a $100,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Racine County District Court for a preliminary hearing at 9 a.m. Oct. 9.

A Caledonia Police Department officer began investigating a child sexual assault report in April. The victim, who was 10 years old at the time of the alleged assault, was participating in a child forensic interview in Pasco, Texas.

During the interview, the girl stated that the defendant assaulted her three to five times a week when she visited Wisconsin, which she said she did for five to six weeks at a time. Hagen said the girl had been to his home about eight times, but denied the allegations of sexual assault.

When asked if the girl was a liar, he did not answer and said he would not call her a liar, the complaint says.

Police found a USB stick in the apartment that contained 285 images, including four of child pornography. The USB stick also contained 217 images of a man having sexual intercourse with various horses.

When asked if he had sex with horses, Hagen replied that he did, but then recanted and said that he did not. However, when asked how often he had sex with horses, he said he didn’t want to say, but then said “about 10 times,” the complaint says.

Police also seized several other flash drives and electronic devices, which are currently under investigation. Those results are pending and could result in additional costs, according to the complaint.
