Center Point man killed in crash during police chase

KIMBERLY, Ala. – A Center Point man died Sunday afternoon after his car crashed while he was being pursued by Kimberly police, according to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.

The single-vehicle accident occurred on U.S. Highway 31 North between Old Highway 31 and Nail Road around 3 p.m.

The driver, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was identified as 27-year-old Cameron De’juan Nix.

ALEA is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
