Suspect shot dead with shotgun after shooting at pursuing police officers on camera

A man was shot and killed by police officers in Illinois after he opened fire on officers following a wild chase that began with him allegedly shooting his own father – and the dramatic scene was captured on police video.

The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office and Plano Police have deleted graphic portions of footage from last month’s incident … and it shows the suspect, a 36-year-old Nicholas Novakjumped out of his vehicle at an intersection with a shotgun in his hand and shot at least once at responding officers.

A Kendall County sheriff’s deputy and a Plano police officer returned fire with about a dozen shots each … and the footage shows the suspect falling to the ground after being hit.

He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

911 audio recordings leading up to the shooting were also released…featuring Nicholas’ father, 70 years old Russell Novakreported a possible home invasion on the night of September 27th.

Russell reported that some of his weapons were missing and noticed signs of forced entry into his home – but then he suddenly started screaming, a loud bang was heard and the line was cut. Around the same time, another caller dialed 911 to report shots fired in the area.

Bodycam footage then decreases The first Plano officer responds to the break-in as the suspect backs out of the garage and resists orders to stop – then dashcam video shows the chase and deadly confrontation.

Russell Novak was reportedly shot during the break-in at his home and later died, police said.
