Shooting outside Mesquite High School begins with delays – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

Mesquite police responded to an officer-involved shooting Monday morning.

During a press conference, Mesquite PD said no one was injured in the shooting and the person involved was taken into custody.

There is no longer an active threat in the area and Poteet High School and JC Austin Elementary School will begin at 10 a.m

Police confirmed that the shooting did not involve the high school and that the delay was a precautionary measure.

Parents of students at JC Austin Elementary School received an email Monday about a delayed start. According to the email, school would start around 10 a.m. due to police operations in the area.

In a post on X on Monday morning, police urged people to avoid the area.
