Mechanic dies after tragic accident while repairing truck

Police are investigating the death of 34-year-old mechanic Garvin Mungroo, who was killed while repairing a dump truck over the weekend.

According to police reports, at approximately 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Mungroo, of Harmony Hall, Gasparillo, was doing mechanical work on a dump truck parked in an open yard at Bull Fabricators on Thompson Street, Gasparillo.

Police were told that while Mungroo was working, the truck’s undercarriage fell on him as he lay beneath the truck.

People in the area raised the alarm and with the help of a forklift, the chassis was removed from Mungroo.

He was then taken to the San Fernando General HospitalHowever, he was declared dead shortly before 2 p.m. that day.
