WASHINGTON – Police in Washington said they have arrested two people after shots were fired near the 200 block of West Madison Street on Sunday, Oct. 6, around 3:45 p.m.

A department news release said an officer observed two Chevrolets traveling east from the Madison-South Avenue B intersection “with one of the vehicles attached to the other.” The two cars “eventually came to a stop just north of the intersection of East Washington and South Ninth.”

According to the release, the first vehicle, driven by Aaron Kron of Riverside, backed into the other car. As Kron drove away, a passenger in the second vehicle, Daegan Brown of Brighton, who was still attached, allegedly fired a handgun at Kron’s home. Neither the news release nor court records available Monday morning indicated how many shots were fired.

The agency said the incident remains under investigation, but it arrested Kron on a charge of assault with the display of a dangerous weapon and Brown on a charge of intimidation with a dangerous weapon. Both were booked into the Washington County Jail.

Court documents in the cases filed Monday morning said Kron rammed the other car while it was properly stopped behind him at a red light. Other court documents showed traffic tickets for Kron from the same day, accusing him of reckless driving, a one-way traffic violation and unsafe backing on a highway, although some records showed a time around 9:30 p.m. Sunday, hours after the afternoon accident.

According to police, there were no reports of injuries from the shooting or collision at the time the news release was issued Sunday evening. Washington Police Chief Jim Lester did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
