Alexis Mac Allister provides an update on his injuries following Liverpool’s latest scare

Alexis Mac Allister has played down fears of a serious injury after hobbling off the pitch during Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Crystal Palace.

The midfielder started the game but did not play in the second half as he remained in the dressing room after complaining about a possible groin injury.

Manager Arne Slot admitted he was unsure about the severity of Mac Allister’s problem, but the Argentina international has now assured fans there is no cause for concern.

“I felt a slight discomfort during the game, but nothing that stopped me,” he wrote on social media. “Now fully focused on what lies ahead.”

Mac Allister later posted a picture of his arrival at Argentina’s training camp, where he will likely undergo a final physical by team staff before being officially cleared to compete.

News of Mac Allister’s fitness is a real boost for Liverpool, who also lost goalkeeper Alisson to a hamstring injury, which is expected to force him to spend a spell on the sidelines.

Alisson will withdraw from the Brazil squad and remain with Liverpool, who appear to be without their first-choice goalkeeper for their visit to Chelsea on October 20.
