The former Everton CEO makes a bold prediction about Liverpool’s triple contract offer in January

The former Everton CEO makes a bold prediction about Liverpool’s triple contract offer in January

Liverpool are preparing for key tenders to extend the contracts of three star players in early 2025.

The Reds’ negotiations are stalled as defensive duo Ibrahima Konate and Jarell Quansah’s contracts are reportedly set to be extended.

However, there is less urgency around these contracts than the three contracts that expire at the end of 2024/25, as Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah are all in the final months of their respective contracts.

Liverpool are willing to keep all three but negotiations will not be easy with Van Dijk and Salah only expected to be offered two-year extensions.

Alexander-Arnold is being offered a longer contract amid growing interest in a free transfer from Real Madrid and Liverpool fans are waiting for updates on the trio.

Despite the situation calming down, there is a growing feeling that not all three can or want to stay at Anfield and January will be crucial.

All three are free to negotiate potential free summer transfers to non-Premier League clubs from the start of 2025 and former Everton CEO Keith Wyness claims the club has some key decisions to make mid-season.

“You have to look at the age and development of these players. Liverpool are probably thinking about going far in major competitions this season and how that money could offset future transfer fees for these three players,” he said in an exclusive interview with Football Insider.

“The fees will not be that high considering they are in the last year of their contracts. Maybe it’s worth holding on to them. They will look into it and see if a deal can be done that makes sense for all parties.”

“We know these three will be in demand. They can go elsewhere so Liverpool have to make them good offers. But Liverpool have made it a point to keep their squad together and keep them going to make money through the competitions.”

“There will be ongoing discussions and if there is anything in terms of contracts it will be ready before January.”
