Jennifer Lopez avoids red carpet appearance during the 50th anniversary American Music Awards 2024

Jennifer Lopez’s personal life might be challenging right now. Still, the Latina superstar isn’t letting her divorce from Ben Affleck stop her from important celebrations like the recent American Music Awards.

Over the weekend, Lopez appeared virtually at the AMAs’ 50th anniversary celebration and gave a speech that brought back memories of her childhood. “It’s pretty incredible, isn’t it? Fifty years of the American Music Awards,” she said. “I remember seeing them at home when I was a little girl.”

The “Jenny From the Block” singer also remembers the show’s premiere in 2001, noting, “It was so long ago — but the energy in the room was very electric.”

Jennifer’s most recent appearance was at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2024. During the event, Jennifer and Affleck’s best friend Matt Damon was filmed having an intense conversation at the afterparty commemorating the premiere of their film “Unstoppable,” in which Lopez stars, starring in the film, produced by Damon and Affleck’s production company Artists Equity.

Days later, the former couple was captured at brunch with her blended family and reportedly very affectionate with each other. Despite eyewitness reports, the couple did not reconcile and are still moving forward with their divorce.

Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce from Ben Affleck two years after tying the knot in Georgia. Lopez cited “irreconcilable differences” as the motive for her divorce. A People insider revealed that the “No Me Ames” singer struggled with Affleck’s moods. Lopez “spent a lot of time making sure Ben was happy and had everything he needed,” the source said. “The way she cared for him was almost childlike,” they continued. “Friends constantly reminded her that she was not responsible for his feelings. He is sometimes very moody and dark. Jennifer appreciates life in a different way. She is very grateful for everything.”

“He doesn’t have good coping skills. He gets frustrated easily and tends to be moody. When he’s relaxed and in a good mood, he’s great to be around,” said a second insider. “But more often he’s upset or frustrated.”

“A lot of times it’s just something small that he gets hung up on,” the source continued. “He really doesn’t understand how his bad mood affects the people around him. That kind of negativity is just not fun to be around.”

While the former couple tries to move forward and live separate lives after the failed relationship, they still share some spaces, including their office building in LA. Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez were seen leaving the premises just minutes apart. It was revealed that JLo left first and Ben followed 15 minutes later. The celebrity couple, who haven’t been seen together for some time, are now coming out with reports detailing a potentially contentious situation arising from the lack of a prenuptial agreement.
