The Allen County Coroner’s Office identified the victim of Thursday night’s shooting as a 19-year-old man

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) — The Allen County Coroner’s Office has officially identified the man killed in a shooting on the city’s south side Thursday night as a 19-year-old.

According to the Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD), officers were called about a man who was shot in the area of ​​6000 Waycross Drive on October 3 around 8:30 p.m.

When police arrived, they found the man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds and took him to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

On Monday, the coroner identified the man as 19-year-old Preston Jermere Church of Fort Wayne. His death was ruled a homicide and was the 35th homicide in Allen County this year.

The shooting remains under investigation.
