(Washington, IA) – Two men are facing charges after police say shots were fired during a traffic accident in Washington, Iowa.

Washington police said they responded to multiple reports of a crash involving shots fired in the 200 block of West Madison Street around 3:45 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 6, and found two vehicles chained together left the scene of the accident heading eastbound on Madison Avenue.

According to police, 27-year-old Aaron Kron of Riverside put his 2016 Chevy Silverado into a 1997 Chevy Suburban and drove away, prompting 24-year-old Daegan Brown of Brighten, a suburban passenger, to do so to shoot the Silverado with a pistol.

Both vehicles eventually came to a stop north of the intersection of East Washington and South 9th.

Both were taken to the Washington County Jail and no injuries were reported.

Kron was arrested and charged with assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, and Brown was arrested and charged with intimidation with a dangerous weapon.

The police are continuing to investigate.
