Mike Johnson’s answer to the 2020 ballot question should alarm everyone

House Speaker Mike Johnson tried to dodge a question from George Stephanopoulos about who won the 2020 election, a worrying sign for the upcoming November elections.

Sunday morning was Johnson asked on ABC whether he could say “unequivocally” that Joe Biden won and Donald Trump lost in 2020. His answer was anything but forthcoming.

“Look, this is the game the mainstream media always plays with leading Republicans. It’s a gotcha game,” Johnson said. “They want us to process things that happened four years ago when we talk about the future. We’re not going to talk about what happened in 2020, we’re going to talk about 2024 and how we’re going to solve the problems for the American people.”

“I think this thing, this game that’s being played all the time, I’m not going to get involved in it,” Johnson said added.

Johnson joins every Republican who wants to curry favor with Trump. JD Vance, Trump’s vice presidential nominee, refused to answer a similar question during last week’s vice presidential debate and was taken to task by Tim Walz, who called it “damn non-response.” (After he hunted by a comedian later in the week, Vance confessed that he believes Trump won the election). Trump’s campaign team refuses to answer the question, as did many Republicans like the Senator Tom Cottonwho avoided him on Sunday Meet the press.

These signals from leading Republicans do not bode well for next month and could signal more serious efforts to undermine unfavorable results. just like in 2020. A worrying sign is the pro-Trump election deniers worked as an election worker in key swing states and are already disrupting the Voting process in places like Georgia. They could cause further problems if they don’t achieve the desired results.
