Russia has opened criminal proceedings against 14 foreign reporters

The FSB said in a statement that the most recent journalists under investigation were from France 24 and CH Media in Switzerland.

As Reuters reported, Ukraine launched a surprise attack on the Kursk region in August, seizing areas around the border town of Sudzha. This was Ukraine’s first permanent seizure of Russian territory since the outbreak of war.

A number of foreign journalists have visited the Ukrainian-controlled territory since a team from Italian state broadcaster RAI made the first such trip in mid-August.

Illegal border crossings are punishable by up to five years in prison under Russian law, the report added.
