Box truck hits electricity pole

Newtown Police report that at 8:43 a.m. Sept. 9, Tara Whyte, 38, of Stratford, driving a 2018 HINO 195 box truck, entered a curve northbound on Swamp Road drove. Whyte’s vehicle went off the right side of the road and the left side of the vehicle collided with a utility pole.

The case remains under investigation. Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact the Newtown Police Department at 203-426-5841.

Man hospitalized after mysterious collision

Newtown police report officers were dispatched to the area of ​​Wasserman Way and Exit 11 of Interstate 84 after a passerby reported a vehicle with front-end damage and a driver complaining of pain in the neck at 6:45 a.m. on Sept. 16 Brust complained, called.

Upon arrival, the officer said Newtown emergency personnel spoke with Michael Mahoney, 93, of Bridgeport, who had a 2020 Toyota Camry parked on Wasserman Way with heavy front-end damage. The officer said Mahoney appeared confused and complained of chest and back pain. Mahoney did not know where his vehicle had crashed, and further questioning of Mahoney made little sense in the officer’s opinion.

Mahoney was taken to Danbury Hospital for further care and evaluation. The officer was unable to locate an accident location along Mahoney’s likely route and closed the incident report for lack of further information.

The vehicle was towed.

Allegations of harassment and stalking

As Newtown Police reported in January 2024, a victim contacted the Newtown Police Department regarding harassing text messages and images sent from various VoIP phone numbers to the victim and his family members. The Newtown Police Department’s Patrol Division conducted a thorough investigation of the complaint and determined that the messages were sent by Bryan Czel, 31, of Newtown. An arrest warrant was issued for Czel and Czel turned himself in on September 20th.

Czel was charged with electronic stalking, four counts of second-degree harassment, two counts of coercion and obscenity.

Czel was released with a court date of Oct. 8 in Danbury Superior Court.

Right of way is not granted

Newtown Police report that Carlyle Nelson, 68, of Newtown, driving a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox, was traveling north on Mt Pleasant Road and turned left on September 21 at 1:45 p.m. Bianca Izzo, 41, of Brookfield, driving a 2018 BMW X1, was traveling south on Mt. Pleasant Road. Izzo’s vehicle struck Nelson’s vehicle as Nelson turned.

No injuries were reported. None of the vehicles were towed.

Nelson was given a misdemeanor for failing to grant the right of way.

Hit and run probably unintentional

Newtown Police report that on September 22nd at 1:22 p.m., a 2016 Toyota Highlander owned by Manuel Paguay of Danbury was parked in a parking lot at 228 South Main Street. An unidentified black sedan was filmed by a passenger in the Highlander backing into the vehicle and then leaving the scene. Due to the minor damage, police believe the other driver probably did not notice the collision.

No injuries were reported. The vehicle was not towed.

The incident is being closed pending further information regarding the other vehicle.

Hit deer

Newtown Police Report: Duc Vo, 50, of Bridgeport, driving a 2010 Acura TI, was traveling south on South Main Street at 7:01 p.m. on September 23rd. A deer ran onto the road and into Vo’s vehicle.

Vo was not injured. The vehicle was not towed. The officer finished off the injured deer.

Back ended on Glen Road

Newtown Police Report Elizabeth Goerg, 44, of Woodbury, driving a 2003 Chevrolet Impala, was traveling south on Glen Road at 7:43 a.m. Sept. 25. She was driving behind a 2017 Toyota Rav4 driven by Michele Flowers, 51, of Waterbury. Flowers came to a stop in front of a traffic jam and Goerg didn’t stop in time, causing Flowers’ vehicle to rear-end.

No injuries were reported. None of the vehicles were towed.

Goerg was given an administrative offense for driving an unregistered motor vehicle and given a verbal warning for being at an unreasonable distance from one another.

Unlicensed driver makes wrong turn

Newtown police report that Tiago Bicalho, 50, of Danbury, driving a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan, was traveling east on Berkshire Road at 9:03 a.m. on Sept. 26. Roberto Cintron, 41, of Stratford, driving a 2014 Honda Accord, continued northbound Jordan Hill Road and came to a stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Berkshire Road. Bicalho turned right onto Jordan Hill Road and crashed into Cintron’s stopped vehicle.

No injuries were reported. None of the vehicles were towed.

Bicalho was charged with a misdemeanor for making an illegal turn and driving a motor vehicle without a license.

Backed into the vehicle

Newtown Police Report Charles Framularo, 76, of Newtown, driving a 2002 Honda Accord, backed into a handicapped parking space at the CH Booth Library on September 26 at 1:04 p.m. While reversing, he came across an unoccupied 2006 Volvo S60 belonging to Dorothea Obyrne.

No injuries were reported. None of the vehicles were towed.

Because the incident occurred on private property, no enforcement action was taken.

NHS collision

Newtown Police Report: Lucas Pinto, 18, of Sandy Hook, driving a 2017 Volkswagen Golf, was in the parking lot of Newtown High School on September 26 at 2:52 p.m. He was driving behind a 2017 BMW X5 driven by Ellenoire Schoen, 17, of Newtown. Schoen came to a stop in traffic because of the stop sign and the railroad crossing guide. Pinto rammed her vehicle from behind.

No injuries were reported. None of the vehicles were towed.

Pinto, a new driver, knew nothing about the procedure for a car accident and continued driving home to tell his father. His father immediately reported to the police. No enforcement action was taken.

Arrested for drunk driving and evading

Newtown Police report that on September 28th at 4:48 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of ​​123 South Main Street on a report of a pickup truck driving recklessly in the parking lot. The caller told police the truck left the parking lot and was traveling at a high rate of speed toward the flagpole.

Officers discovered the vehicle was traveling at extremely high speeds. The truck accelerated away from police and burned its tires as it turned. The officer lost sight of the truck in the area of ​​Borough Street and South Main Street. While checking Mile Hill Road and Queen Street, officers discovered a two-car accident with injuries.

The driver, later identified as Adrian Ajdinoski, 25, of Shelton, then fled the scene on foot. Officers located Ajdinoski in the woods and took him into custody. They charged him with failure to renew registration, illegal operation of a motor vehicle during suspension, reckless driving, involving police in pursuit, evading responsibility for bodily harm, evading responsibility for property damage, illegal operation of a motor vehicle driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, failure to obey a stop sign, failure to notify DMV of a change of address on driver’s license and obstructing an officer/resisting arrest.

He was released on $25,000 bail with a court date of Oct. 8 in Danbury Superior Court.
