Accident shuts down Turnpike – ButlerRadio.com

A portion of the turnpike was closed yesterday after an accident near the Cranberry interchange.

Crews were in the eastbound lanes of the Turnpike near mile marker 26, which is between the Butler and Cranberry exits, just before 3 p.m.

Details of how the accident occurred are unclear, but at least one person was trapped and seriously injured.

A medical helicopter was called; It ended up on the highway, which also forced the closure of a portion of southbound I-79.

The emergency services managed to reopen both highways after 4 p.m
