Russian attacks across Ukraine leave four dead and dozens injured

Four people died and dozens were injured in Russian attacks across Ukraine last day, Ukrainian media reports.

The Ukrainian Air Force posted on the social media platform Telegram on Monday that Russia fired ballistic and guided missiles on Monday at several areas, including the Sumy, Kharkiv and Kiev regions.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky acknowledged the attacks on X, saying air defenses had destroyed more than 50 Shahed drones launched by Russia and fired at a dozen targets.

“During this week, the enemy deployed about 20 missiles of various types, more than 800 guided air bombs and almost 400 attack UAVs of various types,” Zelensky said in the post.

“This daily air terror can be stopped.”

The Ukrainian leader also mentioned in the post that he would pursue his country’s demand for long-range weapons capabilities aimed at firing deep into Russian territory at a high-level military meeting planned for next week in Ramstein.

On October 12, Ukraine’s Defense Contact Group is expected to discuss several key issues, such as the “staffing of the brigades” and the supply of weapons and equipment to soldiers, Zelenskyy said said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Russian media confirmed that Kiev had launched rocket attacks on an oil depot in Russian-occupied Crimea. According to the report, firefighters are currently battling a fire that broke out at the site following the attack.

The Ukrainian armed forces wrote on Telegram that the attack – on the largest oil depot in the region – was used to strategically hit the fuel used by Moscow.

“The measures to undermine the military and economic potential of the Russian Federation continue,” the Telegram post said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin illegally annexed the Ukrainian territory of Crimea in 2014 – a precursor to the Kremlin’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in early 2022.

Since then, Moscow has been holding “elections” in the Russian-occupied region, which leads to outrage from Brussels, which denounced the competition as “null and void” because “Crimea is Ukraine”.
