Trial begins in 2021 fatal knife attack in Port Jefferson

A woman charged in a fatal stabbing on a Port Jefferson trail is expected in court Monday.

Benjamin Flores-Mendez was found dead on the Setauket-Port Jefferson Station Greenway in 2021.

According to prosecutors, Jose Martinez-Vazquez admitted to killing him. His girlfriend, Tiffany Diaz-Cabrera, was a lookout.

Diaz-Cabrera pleaded guilty in connection with the case.
