Police are treating the attack on a gaming center as a hate crime

A gaming center in Londonderry was covered in red paint and a window was smashed in what police are treating as a hate crime.

The Socialist Republicans for Palestine said on social media they were responsible for the attack on the Oasis Gaming Center on Shipquay Street just before 6pm BST on Friday.

Police said a fire extinguisher and paint were thrown onto the site in the city center, causing significant damage.

“Our inquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of this incident, which we are currently treating as a hate crime,” said Sergeant Ross of the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI).

A shop front in Londonderry city center partially covered in red paint following a vandalism attack. There are three large windows and a glass door, all of which have been splattered with paint and are now partially cleaned. A ladder can be seen on the building.
