Historical Drama ‘Rise of the Raven’ Headlines Beta Film’s Mipcom List | News

The Beach debuted on Greece’s ERT1 and streaming platform ERTFLIX

Beta Film is bringing a number of drama series to Mipcom this month, most notably the upcoming 10-part historical drama “Rise of the Raven.”

Produced by Serendipity Point Films, Twin Media, HG Media, MR Film and Beta Film, Rise of the Raven tells the story of real-life army commander János Hunyadi, who defends Europe from Ottoman invasion in the 15th century amid political intrigue and scandal . It will have its world premiere at Mipcom.

Joining Rise of the Raven is the Finnish sports drama Last to Brake, based on the true story of Jarno Saarinen, an underdog who challenges an unbeatable champion in motorcycle Grand Prix racing in the early 1970s. Co-produced by Funfar, Fireframe and YLE, the series was written by Sami Keski-Vähälä (Gracious Night, Brothers) and directed by Simon Kaijser (Spinning Man, Before We Die).

Also on Beta Film’s Mipcom program is “The Beach,” which debuted on Greece’s ERT1 and streaming platform ERTFLIX. The 288-episode series is co-produced by Foss and ERT and will be presented in an international screening at Mipcom.

Elsewhere, Beta Film is showing “Patience” (6×60′), in which a young autistic police archivist and a sharp-witted detective form an unusual duo who solve unusual crimes in surprising situations. The series is produced by Eagle Eye Drama for PBS in the US and Channel 4 in the UK.

Eagle Eye is also producer of the UKTV crime drama Bookish (6×60′), set in London in 1946 and directed by Mark Gatiss (Sherlock, Doctor Who), who also stars in the series.

Another drama is A Better Man (4×60′) by writer and director Thomas Seeberg Torjussen, NRK in Norway and ZDF in Germany, which is about the redemption of an internet troll.

The program is rounded off by the fourth season of “Sisi”, the second season of the Nordic crime drama “Helsinki Syndrome” and the Italian youth series “Prisma”.
