Suspect arrested in double murder shooting in Redding, Nevada

One of the suspects in the Oct. 4 double-homicide shooting in southwest Redding was arrested Sunday in Reno, Nevada.

According to the Sparks Police Department (SPD), members of the Regional Crime Suppression Unit (RCSU) arrested 18-year-old Trevon Evanoff on a murder warrant in Redding on October 6 at approximately 1:00 p.m. Police said the arrest came after Redding investigators contacted RCSU and told them Evanoff was likely in the Reno, Nevada, area.

Leading up to the arrest, Evanoff was identified as a suspect in connection with the shooting that occurred Oct. 4 in southwest Redding, around Westside Road and Meadowbrook Drive. Police obtained an arrest warrant for Evanoff on conspiracy charges stemming from his role in the shooting. Two men died and three other adults suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the shooting.

RCSU investigators located Evanoff at a home in the 1400 block of East 9th Street in Reno. Investigators obtained a search warrant for the home and Reno SWAT assisted in serving it. Police arrested Evanoff without incident.
