Two arrested after encounter for sexually harassing two schoolgirls in Deoria | TheBengaluruLive – News from Bengaluru/Bangalore

Deoria (UP), Oct 7 (PTI) Two people accused of sexually harassing two girls while they were returning from their school last week were arrested on Monday after an encounter in which they were injured in their legs , the police said.

The accused, Dheeraj Patel and Ritik, aged between 18 and 20, allegedly fired shots when a police team surrounded them on a tip-off, Additional Superintendent of Police Deependra Nath Chowdhury said.

In the exchange of fire that ensued, both sustained bullet injuries on their legs, he said, adding that two pistols and cartridges of local production were recovered from them.

The encounter took place on Kanchanpur-Sirathia Gotha road in Tarkulwa police station area, he said.

They were taken to a hospital and their condition is out of danger, the ASP said.

He said the two allegedly tried to sexually harass the two schoolgirls on October 4 when they were returning to their homes.

The school management lodged an FIR at Tarkulwa police station.
