Citizen volunteer alleges sexual assault by SI at police station

Kolkata, Oct 7 (PTI) A Kolkata Police volunteer alleged that she was sexually assaulted by a sub-inspector at Park Street police station in the city following which a police investigation was launched, an official said.

The alleged incident took place on October 5 around 1.10am when the woman volunteer was called to the toilet on the fourth floor of the police station by the accused SI, he said.

“On the pretext of giving her clothes as gifts for Durga Puja, the accused police officer allegedly molested her. We are examining their complaint,” the official told PTI.

The woman had worked at Park Street Police Station since becoming a volunteer in 2017, he said.

The woman told reporters that she sent her complaint to the Kolkata Police Headquarters at Lalbazar as well as the DC South office after officials at Park Street Police Station refused to accept her complaint. PTI
