My Happy Marriage Season 2 Unveils New Illustration and Audio Drama Video Featuring Miyo and Kudo

A new illustration and a narrated radio play video were unveiled for the film upcoming second season from My happy marriagewhich will air in Japan in January 2025. Netflix streamed the anime worldwide, outside of Japan.

Masayuki Kojima (Crafted in Abyss), who storyboarded and directed My happy marriage The fifth episode of the first season (and the storyboard for the seventh episode) is included Takehiro Kubota as co-director for the second season. Cinema Citrus is once again the animation production company.

Other staff returning from the first season include: Sachiko Yasuda as character designer, Inspired’s Emi Katanosaka And Osamu Masuyama (previously background art consultants) as background art directors, T2 Studio’s Tsunetaka Ema as composition director, Anna Okamatsu as a color designer, Halka as a kimono designer, Evan Call as a music composer and Koji Morimoto (new) as a supporter of script development.

Ami Sato, Minori Hashiba (new), Fuka Ishii (new, co-screenwriter on Ranking of Kings: The Treasure Chest of Courage), Momoka Toyoda (former co-series writer) will serve as co-series writers for the second season.

Meanwhile, the anime’s returning voices and new additions include:

The original light novel series written by Akumi Agitogi and illustrated by Tsukiho Tsukioka, was first released on January 15, 2019 under Fujimi Shobo’s Fujimi L Bunko imprint. Eight volumes have been published as of March 2024. The series has inspired a manga adaptation drawn by Rito Kosaka (what is published in English by Square Enix Manga & Books) and a live-action film adaptation.

The first season premiered in Japan on July 5, 2023 and consisted of a total of 12 episodes. An OVA episode was released in March 2024.

Yen Press publishes the My happy marriage light novels in English that describe the synopsis as follows:

Born talentless into a noble family known for their supernatural abilities, Miyo Saimori is forced into a life of servitude by her abusive stepmother. However, when Miyo finally reaches marriageable age, her hopes for a better life fade when she discovers the identity of her fiancé: Kiyoka Kudou, a commander apparently so cold and cruel that his previous brides-to-be all fled within three days their commitments. With no home to return to, Miyo resigns herself to her fate – and soon discovers that her pale and beautiful future husband is anything but the monster she expected. As they slowly open their hearts to each other, they both realize that the other could be their chance to find true love and happiness.
