The 2024 Major League Baseball postseason is here and the divisional round is underway. The Padres and Phillies both picked up important wins on Sunday, leveling both NLDS matchups. The Tigers and Royals will look to do the same in the ALDS on Monday, as the Guardians and Yankees both hold a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five series.

The Phillies defeated the Mets in Game 2, getting a walk-off single from Nick Castellanos to win a thrilling back-and-forth game at Citizens Bank Park. The Padres, meanwhile, hit six home runs in their blowout win over the Dodgers, which was marked by high tension and an incident between San Diego fans and players.

The Houston Astros, Baltimore Orioles, Atlanta Braves and Milwaukee Brewers were all ousted in the Wild Card Series last week, reducing the playoff field from 12 teams to eight.

As a reminder, the 12-team playoff round is divided into four rounds. Eight teams played in the best-of-three wild card series, with the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds in each league hosting the No. 6 and No. 5 teams, respectively. The numbers 1 and 2 in each league received a bye into the League Division Series, which begins on Saturday, October 5th.

The 2024 World Series begins on either Friday, October 25th or Tuesday, October 22nd. The start date will be moved up if both the ALCS and NLCS finish in five games or fewer.
