Akeen Fennell wins 2024 “Digicel Rising Stars” | Entertainment

After an intensive campaign, Akeen Fennell has emerged as the 20th winner of the Digicel Rising Stars competition.

His win was announced during the Digicel Rising Stars results show outside the Television Jamaica studios on Sunday night.

The St. Mary native, who received a $1.5 million grand prize and other prizes, almost missed his chance to compete in this year’s competition.

“I’ve been afraid of Rising Stars for years. I always watched it and enjoyed it, but actually participating? I never had the courage to even do it,” Fennell said THE WEEKEND STAR Before the finale, he shared that he missed two auditions in his area and had to make his way to Kingston to try out.

Fennell secured his place in the competition and made it to the finals, where he faced off against 17-year-old voting machine Renecia Bernard.

Bernard took second place and received a check for $600,000, among other prizes.
