Authorities say shots were fired at the Burnet County church Sunday morning

Burnet County Sheriff’s Department officers responded to shots fired at a church in Burnet Sunday morning, according to a statement from authorities.

At approximately 10:33 a.m. Sunday, officers responded to a 911 call from an unknown man calling police at Church at Epicenter, 2401 NUS 281, in Burnet. Officers determined that shots were fired by a member of the church’s “volunteer security team.”

According to the statement, the church member told officers at the scene that he was confronted by two “suspicious” men outside the church, one of whom had a rifle. According to the authorities, no injuries are currently known.

The Burnet County Sheriff’s Office is working with state and federal authorities to investigate this incident.
