Emporia police are searching for a car that was allegedly damaged in a hit-and-run accident Sunday

Emporia Police officers are searching for a truck they say may have been involved in a hit-and-run accident early Sunday evening.

Sergeant. Dominic Vortherms says a white Ford F150 allegedly struck a car, with Emporia Fire listing the incident in the 1000 block of South Commercial. According to Vortherms, the truck left the scene after sustaining significant damage, including the front bumper hanging lower than normal and the tailgate was damaged.

A person in the car was observed but declined to be hospitalized.

No suspect description is currently available.

7:30 p.m. Sunday: EPD is investigating a possible hit-and-run accident in South Emporia

Emporia police are investigating a possible hit-and-run accident that left one person with minor injuries Sunday.

Officers and Emporia Fire/EMS were dispatched to the 1000 block of South Commercial near the Kansas Highway 99 bridge over the Cottonwood River around 5:40 p.m. Emergency responders checked on a person who refused hospitalization.
