“Immediately fired” – Bills fans lose their temper and turn their anger on head coach Sean McDermott after Buffalo inexplicably hands the Texans the walkoff win to avoid overtime

“Immediately fired” – Bills fans lose their temper and turn their anger on head coach Sean McDermott after Buffalo inexplicably hands the Texans the walkoff win to avoid overtime

Ka’imi Fairbairn won it for the Houston Texans with a brilliant 59-yard field goal.

But the Buffalo Bills did their best to ensure the Texans won 23-20 on Sunday and improved to a record of 4-1.

During one of the strangest time management situations in recent NFL history, Buffalo decided to pass three times from its own 3-yard line with 32 seconds to play.

Josh Allen went 0-for-3 on passes while the Bills failed to gain a yard.

Buffalo also only needed an 11-second lead, giving the Texans enough time to make a quick play and score a game-winning field goal.

Allen deserves the blame for not doing the obvious and pushing the Bills into the bid.

But even with Buffalo’s Pro Bowl quarterback stuck in a 20-20 tie, long-frustrated Bills fans had only one person on their minds as they tried to figure out what the hell at the end of the fourth quarter in Houston on Sunday happened.

Buffalo’s head coach.

“Sean McDermott should be sacked immediately and not allowed to fly home on the team plane,” one fan tweeted. “This is shockingly bad game management. What were they thinking?! You have faith in the quarterback and then there’s complete stupidity.”

“Congratulations Sean McDermott!” a second fan posted. “You’re a fucking idiot.”

“Embarrassing end to this game for Buffalo,” a third fan wrote. “Absolutely embarrassing and Sean McDermott needs to answer for his thoughts.”

Buffalo fell to 3-2 with the loss, but the loss could last much longer than Sunday.

McDermott has been shadowed by questions about whether he is the right head coach to take Allen and the Bills to the next level.

In an AFC with superstar QBs Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson, there is little room for error and every close loss is magnified.

“Overall, it’s up to me,” McDermott said. “We just have to do a better job. I have to do a better job in this situation.”

Buffalo rallied from a 20-3 deficit to tie the contest with 20 points.

If the Bills had simply played some time outside of regulation time, they would have forced overtime and gained momentum on the road.

Buffalo did the opposite and gave the Texans the ball again in advantageous field position.

“Bills receivers are dropping passes,” one fan tweeted. “Josh Allen with a terrible completion rate. Bill’s heartbreaking loss. Sean McDermott should be fired. Terrible time management.”

To make matters worse for Bills fans, former Buffalo wide receiver Stefon Diggs led the Texans with six catches for 82 yards.

The Bills traded Diggs to Houston in the offseason, removing Allen’s best receiver from the team.

“We’ve lost our game a little bit compared to what we showed in the first three games,” McDermott said.

Buffalo fans definitely agree.
