Manu Samoa’s head coach has been suspended following criminal charges

Lakapi Samoa has suspended Manu Samoa head coach Mase Mahonri Schwalger with immediate effect after criminal charges were lodged against him last week.

In a statement, Lakapi Samoa said the board decision was made on September 30, 2024 and the decision will be reviewed in three months.

Coach Schwalger will continue to receive his full salary during this period.

“We respect the legal process and Lakapi Samoa will have no further comment as the matter is still before the courts,” the statement said. Mase was indicted last week and faces multiple sexual allegations. He is scheduled to appear in court on November 4th.
