Police are investigating a shooting near the Fort Worth Stockyards that left one dead and several injured

Investigators said police were searching for clues and a motive after a shooting early Sunday morning near the Fort Worth Stockyards that left one person dead and several others injured.

Officers were called to the 100 block of NW 24th Street around 3 a.m. for a report of shots fired, police said in a written statement.

When they arrived, officers found several shooting victims, including one person who was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The other victims were taken to local hospitals for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, the police statement said.

According to investigators, another victim was taken to treatment in a private vehicle.

Police did not immediately identify the person killed or any of the victims who were shot. KXAS-TV identified the dead man as Joseph Padilla, 18, based on a Tarrant County coroner’s report.

Four people were reportedly shot in the incident.

Police have not said publicly whether anyone was in custody or whether a suspect has been identified.
