CEO of the Buffalo Jewish Federation looks back on a year since the October 7 attack

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Buffalo’s Jewish community is spending time reflecting after celebrating the Jewish New Year leading up to Yom Kippur while marking one year since the Oct. 7 attack in Israel.

“So there are a lot of feelings. We are afraid, we are sad, we are angry and somehow we still maintain hope because that is what this new year is all about,” said Miriam Abramovich, CEO of the Buffalo Jewish Federation.

She says that for her and many others, the October 7 attack remained in their minds from the beginning.

People will come together to celebrate the solemn anniversary

“We’re thinking about what we can do, how we can be better advocates to work with our partners in government and figure out what we can do to get something done.” [the hostages] Home,” Abramovich said.

Members of Buffalo’s Jewish community will mourn at a private event on Monday.

“If you have friends who are Jewish, if you have colleagues who are Jewish, I think something as simple as checking in tomorrow, on Monday, this week goes a long way and means a lot,” Abramovich said.
