At least one person was seriously injured when a vehicle crashed into a storefront in Harrisburg

A crash in downtown Harrisburg Sunday afternoon left at least one person seriously injured and closed Second Street from Market Street to State Street.

Unconfirmed reports indicate a person, possibly in a wheelchair, was struck on the sidewalk near Second and Pine streets.

The accident occurred around 3:30 p.m

Neighbors told PennLive reporter Zack Hoopes that a vehicle hit a pole and careened into a storefront on Second Street north of Pine Street, hitting someone on the sidewalk and then rolling over.

They also said they saw the driver of the vehicle bleeding profusely as he was taken away from the scene.

The accident tore down a metal utility pole and damaged the storefront.

Apparently a body was covered with a tarpaulin at the scene, but this was not confirmed by police or rescue workers.
