The Patriots get a promising injury update after the major scare late in the Week 5 loss

The Patriots’ season has been marred by injuries, and in the fourth quarter they looked to add another to the list. As if the offense hadn’t struggled enough, running back Rhamondre Stevenson’s attempt to jump off the field, followed by the medical team lying on the field, wasn’t the sign fans needed to see in a close game.

His day had already started much differently than the previous four games when Jerod Mayo announced he was demoting the starter after collecting four fumbles to start the year and pushing Antonio Gibson to the top of the depth chart.

The new Patriot has impressed in his first year in New England despite his limited playing time behind Stevenson and had another great performance on Sunday against the Dolphins. It looked like he would be the main weapon in the backfield after Stevenson went down, but the team was lucky as he only missed one play.

The Patriots received even better news after the loss when Stevenson announced that he did not expect to ever miss due to the ankle injury he sustained during the game. It’s a huge sigh of relief for the offense moving forward, even if they’re not playing well overall, as he’s been the primary contributor to the offense so far.

The hope is that the injury doesn’t get worse as the week progresses. The Patriots certainly cannot afford to lose another player on the team, let alone on offense.

To make matters worse, they have a tough matchup next week, with the Texans coming to town after beating the Bills in Week 5. So having Stevenson in the lineup is a necessity and probably the only way the Patriots will have a chance to accomplish much of anything.
