Tragic shootout in Indapur: Academy owner dies of gunshot wounds | Pune News

Pune: A 30-year-old man who runs an academy Indapur To train students for the Police recruitment exam, succumbed to gunshot wounds he sustained in an accident on Friday Burn by another person from his village on September 30 due to previous enmity.
The attacker fired four shots at the victim. Rahul Chavanfrom a country-made pistol and all the bullets hit his back. Chavan was admitted to a hospital in Pune.
“Within two hours, we arrested the attacker Sonya alias Dheeraj Chormale. We recovered a country-made pistol from him. We have also arrested three other suspects, Abhijeet Chormale, Kshitij Chormale and Prakash Shinde. Five others are on the run,” inspector Suryakant Kokane of Indapur police said.
He added that the victim Chavan and the suspects hail from Shirsodi village in Indapur taluka. “They had a dispute over village politics. About two years ago, Chavan had lodged a police complaint against six of the suspects,” Kokane said.
The officer said Chavan lodged a complaint around 1.30 pm on September 30 that suspects Abhijeet Chormale and Dheeraj Chormale had mistreated him for not withdrawing his case against them. “Chavan had stated that the duo threatened him that they would see him again in the evening,” Kokane said.
When Chavan was returning home from a training session for students at his academy, the three suspects, including Abhijit Chormale, stopped him and started abusing him. The others were on the other side of the street. “As Chavan turned towards his motorcycle to avoid conflict, Dheeraj Chormale fired four shots at his back. Everyone left the spot in a car and on a motorcycle,” Kokane said.
