“West Hartford Hauntings” promises spooky cemetery tours

WEST HARTFORD, CT – Tickets for one of West Hartford’s most anticipated annual Halloween events, “West Hartford Hauntings,” are now on sale.

This year, the Noah Webster House & West Hartford Historical Society is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its West Hartford Hauntings fundraiser.

The Haunted Cemetery Experience benefits the Noah Webster House and the West Hartford Historical Society.

“History, storytelling and spooky fun await you this October at the 20th annual West Hartford Hauntings, theatrical cemetery tours hosted by the Noah Webster House and the West Hartford Historical Society,” the society wrote in a press release.

The lantern-lit experience traverses one of West Hartford’s oldest burial sites, Old North Cemetery (circa 1790), located at 80 N. Main St. in West Hartford.

During a visit, guests meet deceased residents of the town who have returned to tell them about the past.

Each year, the Noah Webster House creates storylines for West Hartford Hauntings based on research into the lives – and deaths – of previous residents.

This year’s “spiritual leader” is Barbara Kalber, wife of Henry Kalber, a late 19th-century gravedigger in West Hartford.

Guests can join Ms. Kalber as she seeks to hear the untold stories and traumas of real West Hartford residents from times long past.

West Hartford Hauntings offers six performance dates to the public: October 17, 18, 19, 24, 25 and 26.

They will be at Old North Cemetery, 80 N. Main St., West Hartford.

Tours depart every 15 minutes from 6:00 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. and last 45 minutes. The tour on October 19th at 6 p.m. will be interpreted in American Sign Language.

West Hartford Hauntings sells out every year.

Tickets are $20 for museum members and $25 for the general public. Discounted tickets are available for groups of 10 or more.

Due to some frightening content, West Hartford Hauntings is recommended for ages 10 and up.

West Hartford Hauntings operates regardless of rain, snow or shine, so guests should dress appropriately for the weather.

Tickets are non-refundable.

Visitors can come to the show early to purchase refreshments and a limited offering of West Hartford Hauntings-related gift items and merchandise.
