Two teenage boys arrested for stalking and sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl who died by suicide

Pune news: Months after a 12-year-old girl was found dead by suicide in her home in Bhosari, Pimpri Chinchwad, police have arrested two local men on charges of stalking and sexually harassing her, which is believed to have contributed to their decision.

The investigation began following a complaint lodged by a 38-year-old tea stall owner, the girl’s father. She was discovered hanging in her bedroom on June 6 and although no suicide note was found, initial investigations suggested it was suicide.

According to the investigating officer, further investigation into the circumstances of her death revealed that she had been stalked by some men in the area. Recently collected CCTV footage confirmed that the two suspects, aged 19 and 20, had been stalking them.

The suspects have been arrested and will be charged under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for stalking and under the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.

In another incident, an investigation by Pune police has revealed that the three suspects in the Bopdev Ghat gang rape case threatened the victim and her friend with sharp weapons before committing the attack and stealing their valuables. The incident took place on Thursday evening when the two college students, who are not from Pune, were visiting the area on a motorcycle.

At around 11 p.m., the defendants arrived on their bicycles, threatened the couple and tied up the woman’s boyfriend. They then dragged the woman to a secluded area and raped her several times. After the attack, the woman freed her friend and they sought medical help. Due to the nature of the case, they were referred to Sassoon General Hospital where police were notified.

An FIR was lodged at Kondhwa police station on Friday morning. The accused are accused of gang rape and robbery under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police have deployed 60 teams to investigate, analyzing CCTV footage and mobile data.
